Celebrating last week's

Classchart Champions

Reflect, Support, Hope
March 23rd marked the second anniversary of the UK lockdown and pupils and staff at Milford Haven School supported the National Day of Reflection with a minutes silence at 12pm. This silent moment was a chance to reflect to commemorate this tragic loss of life and to stand together with everyone who’s grieving.
Pupil conference
The MHS Prefect team hosted a very successful Spring Conference this week. The Spring Conference was a fantastic success and an opportunity for pupils to voice their views on topics that the Senedd is looking to review. Pupils got the chance to speak with the Prefects who represent their voice and discussed the curriculum, wellbeing, uniform, behaviour and more. Da iawn to everyone involved for hosting a successful event.
⚽ Wales V Austria ⚽
Some of the pupils and staff at MHS were lucky enough to attend the Wales V Austria football match in Cardiff on March 24th. They had a wonderful time and what a game of football to watch live. Da iawn to the pupils on their fantastic behaviour, they were a credit to the school.
🐰 MHS Bunny Run 🐰
This week we were very excited to announce the Milford Haven School Bunny Run. Thanks to the Winter Wellbeing grant we are able to offer this free event for the pupils of MHS and their families. Visit the PE department or see Miss Crolla to put your name down and to collect your race pack.
Each participant will receive a race pack. Inside the pack you will be provided with bunny ears to run in, a bespoke engraved event medal, a completion certificate and an Easter Egg. The end date for this event is Friday April 8th.
All those that sign up can run at a time and place of their choosing within the time frame of 1st – 8th April. We have suggested either a distance of 2k or 5k but of course you can set your own challenge, just have fun!
Please share your photos and videos with us so we can celebrate your success together.
Cricket festival a success 🏏
U13’s Girls Indoor Cricket Festival (ECB Cup) – 22/3/22.
An excellent all round team performance where all of the girls played exceptionally well. They were a credit to the school with their behaviour and attitude towards the game and other schools.
Player’s Player: Maddie  (Y7)
Coaches player: Gracie (Y8)
Special Mention: To the whole team
Thank you to Sports Pembrokeshire for hosting the Festival. It was a lovely day out and both pupils and staff enjoyed.
Parent Revision Skills
We were delighted to welcome parents back into MHS this week for a Parent Revision Skills session. It was so lovely to see so many in attendance and we are confident that parents and pupils learnt many great revision tips and techniques. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Sam from University of Wales Trinity St Davids, for delivering the presentation.

Thank you for organising. The information was so well presented! I thought I knew about revision but I learned a lot of new skills.

Careers talks for pupils
Daring pupils were once again given an invaluable insight into the world of careers this week when Abdul Arman, Product Manager at Barclays Bank digitally visited them to talk about his career since leaving MHS. The pupils enjoyed hearing about his path and were giving the opportunity to receive advice and ask questions. Diolch!
You’re HIRED!
Sir Alan Sugar himself would be fighting to hire our pupils after multiple successful enterprise events this week. Year 9 Business students have been taking on the 10X challenge. They started with £10 and their goal was to turn a profit selling items such as sweets, drinks and handmade goods.
The Year 10 Princes Trust students have followed in their path with another successful event this week selling items to pupils and staff during their break and lunch to raise money for charities.
Da iawn to everyone involved.

World Maths Day 🧮
The Maths & Numeracy AOLE celebrated World Maths Day  and participated in a series of ‘Milford Murder Mysteries’ in lessons. The pupils had to apply their knowledge to crack codes and work out ‘who dunnit, why, where what happened and when’.

The Heads of Houses at MHS are hosting Easter Bingo. With some fabulous cash prizes, chocolatey treats up for grabs a raffle and a sweet shop it’s sure to be an egg-celent event! Save the date in your dairies and come along and join us for some Easter fun on 5th April eyes down at 6.30pm.

GCSE POD is a fantastic resource which Milford Haven School continues to promote amongst learners and their parents/carers.

GCSE POD holds a wealth of support for a range of subjects, with some content specific for KS3 as well as KS4. Learners are encouraged to use their MHS Google log-in to access the site and start exploring the site which could prove extremely beneficial for our KS4 learners.
Please look at the following parent site tour where you can see what is on offer: https://bit.ly/2P1hJKZ
Young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB.
Below is a link to the young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB, designed for 11 to 25-year-olds. Here you will find six playlists to direct you to a wide range of online resources to help you through the lockdown and beyond. In each of the playlists you’ll find self-help websites, apps, helplines, and more that are here to support your mental health and well-being.
Please remember: if you’re finding it difficult to cope, make sure you speak to someone you trust. Who this might be is different for everyone, but it might include family members or carers, a teacher, a helpline, or a doctor. How you feel is important and lots of people are here to help if you need them.
