Senedd MHS meet local politician
Last week, members of Senedd MHS participated in a digital dialogue with Stephen Crabb MP for Preseli Pembrokeshire. They spent an hour discussing life as a politician, career routes into politics and posed some challenging and topical questions to their MP on matters they are passionate about. It was a fascinating insight and experience, the pupils were excellent ambassadors for our school and were grateful to our MP for giving up his time.
Cricket Festival
We had 2 teams representing Milford Haven School in the U15’s Girls Indoor Cricket Festival (ECB Cup) on Thursday 24th March 🏏
All of the girls gave 100% and played exceptionally well.

Thank you to Sports Pembrokeshire and Milford Leisure Centre for hosting the festival.
World Autism Awareness Week
Pupils and staff at Milford Haven School have been supporting World Autism Awareness Week by taking part in activities to better understand some of the struggles that young people with autism face everyday, there have been informative assemblies to help better educate pupils and staff on how we can continue to better support our young people. As we approach Autism Awareness Day at the end of this awareness week, Milford Haven School have been reflecting on the Learning with Autism Award that was achieved last year that saw all pupils, staff and governors complete a specially designed training programme to achieve this critically acclaimed award. As we welcome new members of our school community we have continued to deliver this training to ensure we put into practice all that has been learnt and continue to support our young people.
National 10x Challenge Competition
A big well done to our Year 9 Business students for completing their 10X Challenge. They hosted two successful enterprise events and turned their £10 investments into a combined total profit of over £260!!
Our challenge winners were the KeepSakes company who made a total profit of £170 by selling exquisite handmade jewellery, cards, hampers and held a raffle. They have now been entered into the National 10X Challenge competition! Well done girls!
Former MHS pupil gives advice
Milford Haven School pupils welcomed back former pupil  Jessica Mayne this week to hear about her journey in journalism. As part of MAT raising achievement interventions, Jess gave a fascinating talk about her career choices and her journey to working for ITV. Our pupils were given the opportunity to ask questions and receive advice about their future choices. Pupils and staff would like to say diolch to Jess for taking the time to return and inspire the future generation.
Hygiene Packs
Recently we were lucky enough to receive funding from the Tesco Bags of Help grant, due to this we have been able to fund male hygiene kits for the young people in Milford Haven School and surrounding community. These kits are a fantastic way to positively promote personal health and hygiene. Thanks to the support of everyone in the local community dropping their blue tokens into the voting box, we have been able to ensure that each Year 7 boy will receive a male hygiene pack. If you are the Parent/Carer of a Year 7 boy, please be aware of a letter being sent home with them next week for you to sign, your child can then swap for a free hygiene pack. Thank you to Tesco and the local community for aiding us in this project.
Year 8 well-being event!
Girls in Year 8 attended a Well-being event at Milford Leisure Centre last week. The girls were invited to participate in some new and exciting physical activities such as Bowls, Rika Shake, Zorb Football and the Fitness Suite. All of the girls had an amazing time and gave 100% in every activity! A big thank you to Street Games who funded the event, Milford Leisure Centre and staff for hosting, Steven Whitmore and Maddie from Welsh Bowls Coaching Association, Charlotte Neil from Rika Shake and to Sports Pembrokeshire (in particular Rominy Colville) for organising and arranging the activities, facilities and goodie bags that the girls received after the event. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves 🏅😁 Da iawn merched!

MCA2 Project update
Milford Community Action have been very busy providing our community with weekly care packages that have included helpful and practical support for families such as: spring cleaning kits, family swimming vouchers, baking kits, meals and weekly menus packed with plenty of fresh vegetables and ingredients. Diolch to our pupils who have helped us over the last few weeks.

We have received some wonderful feedback from our amazing families, it makes all the hard work absolutely worth it!

Daily life can be a struggle for us all, with the price of everything going up fuel, electric, gas, food etc I can imagine I speak for plenty of families in the same situation that things are so much harder, they were a struggle enough before but they are much worse now, everyday is a worry. It’s been so lovely to know that support is there for me and my family.

GCSE POD is a fantastic resource which Milford Haven School continues to promote amongst learners and their parents/carers.

GCSE POD holds a wealth of support for a range of subjects, with some content specific for KS3 as well as KS4. Learners are encouraged to use their MHS Google log-in to access the site and start exploring the site which could prove extremely beneficial for our KS4 learners.
Please look at the following parent site tour where you can see what is on offer: https://bit.ly/2P1hJKZ
Young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB.
Below is a link to the young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB, designed for 11 to 25-year-olds. Here you will find six playlists to direct you to a wide range of online resources to help you through the lockdown and beyond. In each of the playlists you’ll find self-help websites, apps, helplines, and more that are here to support your mental health and well-being.
Please remember: if you’re finding it difficult to cope, make sure you speak to someone you trust. Who this might be is different for everyone, but it might include family members or carers, a teacher, a helpline, or a doctor. How you feel is important and lots of people are here to help if you need them.
