Update – Friday 27th March 2020

As we come to the end of the first week of a new normal, we would like to express a huge thank you to all our staff for coming together and quickly adapting this week to support our pupils and their families in any way we could. Many phone calls have been made by our support staff to check in on pupils and their families, as we know some of you are vulnerable and worried because of the extreme situation we find ourselves in. Free school meals have been issued by our fantastic canteen staff to all those that required them, and our auxiliary team have worked tirelessly to make sure the school was a clean and safe space for anyone that needed to be on site. There are now lots of resources available online that our teaching staff have worked hard to produce and upload, for some of you this will help add structure to your days and continue learning, but please don’t feel under any pressure to become teachers in your own home overnight.

We understand that these are challenging times for everyone, and while we have provided work for home study we accept that people may be limited to what they are able to do in the coming weeks. We also understand that your families’ health and wellbeing will be your priority, and as such you might choose to spend quality time as a family instead of doing worksheets- and we would say that would be time well spent.

Any learning that takes place at home over the coming weeks will be valuable, but what that looks like will be different in every home. It may not be academic subjects, it may be that you spend time teaching important life skills such as cooking or gardening to your children. These lessons will be just as important as anything that we would have taught in a classroom.

Finally we would just like to say thank you to the whole Milford Haven School family. We will do our best to support the community as best we can during these tough times, and rest assured when this is all over we will still be here to help our young people overcome any disruption they have experienced on their learning journeys. Diolch yn fawr, and stay safe.
