Shwmae and welcome to this week’s blog. As we come to the end of a very busy 8 week half term I would like to say diolch yn fawr to all pupils, staff and the wider MHS community for a very positive start to the autumn term. Have a safe and enjoyable break.
Reading Achievements…
These MHS pupils have taken part in various literacy challenges over this half term and have all shown amazing progress. Some have completed their Accelerated Reading challenges and others have taken part in a book review writing competition. Various prizes and certificates have been handed out by Mrs Sanderson, Librarian who said “I am very proud of the amazing work these pupils have done over this 8 week half term, continue the hard work, da iawn”.
Dauntless House Update…
Year 7 pupils have settled in well to life here at MHS and have had an amazing 8 weeks. Miss Mansell, Head of Dauntless house has been blown away by Year 7 this term – their energy, enthusiasm and passion for engagement. What a term – culminating in a Halloween Disco and a Torch Theatre Cinema Trip. Dauntless House will continue their amazing work on their return to school to complete their Dauntless Challenge booklet and progress into their MHS House.
I have loved my first few weeks here, I have enjoyed my new subjects, my new teachers and making new friends.
Kindness Reward…
What a way to end the first half term. Here are the winners of The Bay kindness award. Voted for by students. A free cup of milkshake and a certificate for these kind and thoughtful students. Da Iawn, pawb.
No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
Celebrating success…
This week we have celebrated success outside of school for multiple pupils who have competed in a variety of different competitions. Da iawn to you all on your hard work and success.
MHS Sports News…
Please see below some of the fantastic sports results the pupils have achieved in the last week:
MHS vs Preseli
U16’s Hockey girls played some excellent hockey in a really close match. They took the lead early, but Preseli bounced back finishing the game with a Draw. 2-2.
Goals scored by: Ella M
Coaches player: Nia Lewis- outstanding game and made consistently excellent saves to ensure Preseli didn’t take the lead.
Players player: Tegan CG (C)
Special shout out to Mr McCarthy you came out to support the girls and ended helping with the umpiring.
Year 7&8 netball
They played a tough game of netball each playing older years. They had true MHS spirit and never gave up till the end.
Year 7 Coaches player: Olivia D
Year 8 coaches player: Emily P
Special mention to Mr Butland who helped coach the girls!
