Headteacher’s blog 27.05.2022

Shwmae, and welcome back to another blog. Pupils and staff have had a week full of celebrations once again. This week we said goodbye to our Year 11 pupils at their leavers assembly and we celebrated the Queen’s forthcoming Jubilee with many celebrations. I wish you a happy and safe half term break and I look forward to welcoming you back to school on Monday 6th June.

Mara Purl visits MHS
We were extremely proud and humbled to play host last week to Author and Performer Mara Purl. The pupils who run our DigiMag were lucky enough to interview Mara about her fascinating life in the world of tv, theatre and writing and pupils were invited to attend a Q&A session about her very successful career.
Thank you Mara for taking the time out of your busy schedule to grace us with such a lovely visit. We enjoyed showing you around our school and we hope you enjoy the rest of your time here in Pembrokeshire.
Da iawn to the DigiMag team on such a professional and thought out interview.
Pembrokeshire Schools Athletics County Sports
On Thursday 19th May the Annual County Sports event took place at Carmarthen Leisure Centre for our athletes to compete in Track and Field events from Years 7 – 10.
It was fantastic to see 51 Milford Haven School pupils perform in their events so passionately and represent our school it an exemplary manner whilst enjoying what was a very hot day and a successful event. We as a school achieved some fantastic results which seen us achieve a podium finish in many of the events – da iawn!
Mr Butland said “The attitude and behaviour was outstanding and once again made the PE Department extremely proud, I can’t express that enough”.
Well done to you all – you are a credit to yourselves and the school! Da iawn pawb! #TeamMHS 🔵🟡
Dive Project Cornwall
Good luck to our environment group who have submitted their entry to win an opportunity to learn to Scuba dive today. As part of the competition they have had to produce a marine creature from plastic waste, write an essay on the importance of our oceans and make a video. They have worked so hard and we are very proud of them!
The Bay Year 11 Afternoon Tea
Pupils, parents and staff that are part of The Bay attended an afternoon tea this week to celebrate our Year 11 leavers. They enjoyed a lovely spread of delicious food and certificates were awarded by Mr Sayer for various achievements. Good luck in the future Year 11.

GCSE POD is a fantastic resource which Milford Haven School continues to promote amongst learners and their parents/carers.

GCSE POD holds a wealth of support for a range of subjects, with some content specific for KS3 as well as KS4. Learners are encouraged to use their MHS Google log-in to access the site and start exploring the site which could prove extremely beneficial for our KS4 learners.
Please look at the following parent site tour where you can see what is on offer: https://bit.ly/2P1hJKZ
Young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB.
Below is a link to the young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB, designed for 11 to 25-year-olds. Here you will find six playlists to direct you to a wide range of online resources to help you through the lockdown and beyond. In each of the playlists you’ll find self-help websites, apps, helplines, and more that are here to support your mental health and well-being.
Please remember: if you’re finding it difficult to cope, make sure you speak to someone you trust. Who this might be is different for everyone, but it might include family members or carers, a teacher, a helpline, or a doctor. How you feel is important and lots of people are here to help if you need them.
