Open Evening 2022
On Thursday 16th June we held our annual Open Evening here at MHS. It was lovely to see so many of you in attendance and welcome you once again to experience the fantastic learning that takes place here and the brilliant work our pupils produce. There was an exciting programme of events starting with the Headteacher’s welcome in Steynton Hall, followed by an introduction to our new Senior Prefect Team for 22/23. There was then an opportunity to visit the various Areas of Learning Experiences that were available and what amazing opportunities there was to join in on some of the exciting things that the departments had planned such as karaoke, language games, spike Lego, questionnaires, treasure hunts, VR goggles, science experiments, sensory rooms, orienteering courses, music, gym fitness testing, mini golf, tennis and of course the giant inflatable obstacle course. Thank you to everyone who attended, we can’t wait to welcome you all to school in September.

Dyfed Athletics Event
On Wednesday 8th June the Dyfed Athletics Event took place at Carmarthen Leisure Centre. Pupils were representing Pembrokeshire after finishing in the top 2 of their events in County Sports prior to half term. This event included Carmarthenshire, Brianne (Llanelli) & Ceredigion.

It was wonderful to see 10 MHS pupils compete in this event from Year 7 – 10. Our pupils performed to a high level and their passion for their sport was clear to see. The attitude and behaviour was exemplary throughout the whole day, we cannot express that enough. We as a school are so proud of their efforts – bendigedig! Well done to you all – you are a credit to yourselves, PE department and Milford Haven School!
Da iawn! #TeamMHS

Speech and power
Miss Greenish’s class has been very busy the last couple of weeks learning the AoLE topic. ‘How does speech give or take away power?’ The class have just written their first essay on this question and Miss Greenish asked them to summarise their essay into one sentence. Here are some of our class responses.

Cricket is back!
Cricket season is back and underway at Milford Haven School as our Year 9 team played Greenhill School on Tuesday 14th June in a T20 Welsh Cup match at Neyland Cricket Club. ☀️

Captain Dylan McGuire won the toss and opted to bowl first. After their 20 overs, Ysgol Greenhill finished 84-9 after good bowling from MHS. In reply, Greenhill bowled very well and restricted us to 39 all out. It was great to see our pupils play with smiles on faces, enjoying the occasion as well as good sportsmanship throughout the whole game. 👏
We would like to wish Ysgol Greenhill Pob Lwc in the next round, continuing to fly the Pembrokeshire flag. A huge thank you to Neyland Cricket Club for hosting and giving us full use of the great facilities. 🤝
Diolch yn fawr a da iawn from a very proud Mr Butland and the whole PE department! 💪
MHS 39-10 lost to Ysgol Greenhill 84-9 by 45 runs. 🏏
