Due to the unprecedented events of the last few weeks we had to press pause on our weekly blog while we all quickly adapted to try and meet the new needs of our Milford Haven School Community. Even though the school building is closed there is still alot going on here at MHS, and so the blog is back to keep you all as up to date as possible!
Across our County, and the wider world, we are seeing rainbows displayed as a symbol of hope during these difficult times. As many of you have hopefully already seen, this week we have added a rainbow to our school logo to help share a message of hope across our strong and special school community.
We are very proud to let you all know that the DT department here at MHS have been hard at work using our 3D printer to print face shields for local key workers. Milford Haven School are one of very few schools in the County with a 3D printer, and we are extremely honoured to be doing our bit to support the front line staff working so tirelessly to keep us all safe.
Ms Morris, Headteacher- “I think it is truly amazing, and a fantastic example to set for our pupils, seeing people like Mr Owen and Ms Sizer thinking outside of the box to find creative ways to help our local community during these difficult times.”
To end the school term on a high, here are some photos showing the last of our stock of face shields being distributed locally. On Friday 3.4.20 Lloyd’s pharmacy Robert Street, Cohen’s pharmacy Manchester Square Health Center, paramedics, Manchester Square Doctors surgery including district nurse team and the hospital have had deliveries.
In a last boost to the front line workers in the NHS, to add to their PPE stocks, the science department have donated a class set of goggles.
We regularly talk about acts of kindness, but this week we really feel like we have walked the walk and set a fantastic example for MHS pupils of how everyone has the capability to make a positive difference in the world.
We are all doing our best to keep some form of normality in very abnormal circumstances. With that in mind Friday April 3rd technically marks the end of the Spring Term, and as such our fantastic Heads of Houses have got together (thanks to technology) and decided that we will do as we always would at the end of term and announce the winners for Classcharts and attendance!
And the winners are…
Attendance:
1st – Dragon
2nd – Diamond
3rd = Daring & Defender
Classcharts:
1st – Defender – 11,358
2nd – Diamond – 9,667
3rd – Daring – 9,312
4th – Dragon – 7,320
Da iawn to everyone that has contributed to this term being such a successful one, even in the face of adversity.
Finally, we just wanted to draw you attention to a couple of pages on the school website that might not usually be on your radar.
https://milfordhavenschool.co.uk/school-closed/
The ‘School Closed’ page has links to work for independent study for pupils in all years at all ability levels. There is also a ‘Parent Pack’ available online with lots of helpful information and guidance for anyone that needs it.
https://milfordhavenschool.co.uk/covid-19/
We also have a ‘Covid 19’ page set up, this page contains any information or announcements that are specifically related to the virus and the resulting circumstances.
Even though Milford Haven School building is closed, as a team MHS staff are very much still here for you and proactively helping (from afar) in any way we can.
Diolch yn fawr and stay safe.
