What a pleasure it has been to welcome all staff and pupils back to Milford Haven School for an extremely positive start to this half term. We have only been back for 5 days and already have so much to celebrate!

It is with great pride that we can announce our year 8 football boys are through to the semi finals of the Welsh cup! Earlier this week they beat Ysgol Abersychan from Pontypool 5-1 at Hakin 4G in a nail biting quarter final. Goals by Ashley Watkins, Cian Davenport, an own goal and 2 goals from Rowan Dixon. An excellent team effort from all the squad, da iawn pawb and POB LWC in the semi final.

A massive thanks to the ref Mickey Algieri, Evans Coaches and of course Gelliswick School for the use of the 4G. Without all the support we have received an incredible event like this would not be possible.

There were other sporting successes this week, Leon and Jaycey represented Milford Haven School at the Rotary Schools Disability Gymnastics Competition in Haverfordwest. Jaycey won 1st on vault, floor & bench and came 1st overall, while Leon achieved 2nd on vault, floor & bench and 2nd overall. They have now been invited to compete in Sophia Gardens in Cardiff at the South Wales finals on March 31st.

A huge da iawn to you both, we are all very proud of your amazing achievements.

A huge well done to the fantastic MHS pupils that took part in the ‘RSPCA Great Debate’ this week- we are extremely proud of you all. The pupils put forward strong arguments regarding the safe use of sky lanterns and fireworks, and potentially if they should be banned. 🐾 🐱

Following on from the success of last year we will again be celebrating International Women’s Day 2020 with our own MHS Women’s Wellness event.

This year the event will be held at Canolfan Ieuenctid Aberdaugleddau / Milford Haven Youth Centre, full details in the poster below. As well as the beauty treatments being delivered by our students, we have a local hairdresser attending who has generously volunteered to do free hair trims!

Tea, cake and pampering- what more reason could you need to come and join us at our Women’s Wellness 2020 event!?

An exciting opportunity has come to Milford Haven School, and we would love for you to be part of it with us.
We have the pleasure of hosting two talks from the team behind Electrifying Women;  an AHRC-funded project for impact and engagement, which runs until the end of February 2020 and aims to broaden public awareness of the long participation of women in engineering. This is all in an effort to help normalise women’s position in the field.
We would be delighted if you could come along and join us, as your attendance could help us inspire future generations and also help build stronger links between successful businesses such as yours and Milford Haven School. We would love for our young people to engage with some real life role models from across the industry in a bid to raise aspirations and normalise some of the ambitions our pupils are striving to achieve.
The talks will take place in the Steynton Hall at 5.30 and 6.30pm, but the evening is also GCSE / A Level Options evening. The school will be open for you to visit departments and see the options that our pupils have available to them; including the variety of vocational and STEM based learning we offer.
Please do not hesitate to get in contact with the school if you require any further details.

The MHS  Fun Run is back for 2020, and it is going to be bigger and better than ever!

Due to the risk assessments and insurance in place for the giant inflatables as part of the course we have limited race places available. We have sold a quarter of places already this week so if you would like to sign up and get involved pupils are to please see Miss Baker or Mr C Butland.
