A huge da iawn and thank you to everyone that took part in our special singing workshop with Only Boys Aloud this week. All of our MHS pupils who participated from years 7-11 were absolutely amazing. The Only Boys Aloud team made several comments about how well behaved the pupils were with impeccable manners, and that they were a real credit to the school which of course we completely agree with.
A great morning was had by all, diolch yn fawr to everyone that engaged so positively in this very special creative workshop.
MHS competition winners.
Way back before the pandemic these wonderful MHS pupils won a welsh speaking competition. Sadly due to COVID-19 restrictions their prize was postponed, however today they finally travelled up to Parc Y Scarlets to view a training session, meet some players and tour the facilities.
Sadly Ollie Rees was unable to attend today, but he deserves a special shout out as he was a vital part of the teamwork which resulted in the competition win.
Da iawn boys on a very well deserved reward today, we hope you all enjoyed your prize.
MHS pupil achievement.

A huge da iawn to this talented young lady, and of course her pony Llanarth Windsor too, as they both finished off the most fantastic season placing 4th in the 133WHP championship of Great Britain at the Horse of the Year Show.
Her Head of House Mr Thomas has said, ‘On behalf of the whole school community, well done. We are all extremely proud of not only your achievements, but also the dedication and determination it has taken for you to be competing at such a high standard. To represent your country is a massive honour, and a just reward for the hours of training that you have put in. Da iawn!’
Sanna Duthie visits MHS
Last week Pembrokeshire Youth Service hosted Sanna Duthie here at MHS, for an inspirational talk with groups of current pupils.
As you may have seen in the news recently, Sanna is a local Ultra runner and record holder for running the entire Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Sanna spoke to some of our students about a wide range of important topics including resilience, overcoming obstacles, empowerment and emotional health and wellbeing. Thank you for facilitating such a positive experience for our young people, with all attendees asking when Sanna is coming back! Thanks for giving up your time Sanna and we look forward to welcoming you back to MHS very soon. Diolch

COVID19 guidance update from Welsh Government
Jeremy Miles MS, Minister for Education and Welsh Language has this week said, “I am amending our advice and guidance to learners in secondary schools and colleges who are under 18 and have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19.
It will be recommended that in addition to PCR tests on Day 2 and Day 8 they should undertake daily lateral flow every day for seven days. This should start on the day a household contact is confirmed positive from a lateral flow or PCR test result.
Where appropriate we want to reduce the testing of children without symptoms but due to the increase in prevalence and the concerns expressed about household contacts it is vital that we do all we can to keep children in school.”
Full details of the most up to date guidance from Welsh Government can be found via the link below. Diolch

GCSE POD is a fantastic resource which Milford Haven School continues to promote amongst learners and their parents/carers.

GCSE POD holds a wealth of support for a range of subjects, with some content specific for KS3 as well as KS4. Learners are encouraged to use their MHS Google log-in to access the site and start exploring the site which could prove extremely beneficial for our KS4 learners.

Young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB.
Below is a link to the young person’s mental health toolkit from HWB, designed for 11 to 25-year-olds. Here you will find six playlists to direct you to a wide range of online resources to help you through the lockdown and beyond. In each of the playlists you’ll find self-help websites, apps, helplines, and more that are here to support your mental health and well-being.
Please remember: if you’re finding it difficult to cope, make sure you speak to someone you trust. Who this might be is different for everyone, but it might include family members or carers, a teacher, a helpline, or a doctor. How you feel is important and lots of people are here to help if you need them.
