Headteacher’s Blog 12.7.19

Please be aware that the letter below has been sent home with a number of students, to make parents and carers aware of the changes in sanctions and support for pupils caught smoking on school grounds. We have posted this online to ensure that everyone is aware of the changes, and as a reminder to all that Milford Haven School is a non smoking site.

Thank you to everyone that attended the meeting on Tuesday to discuss the proposed LRC here at Milford Haven School. Below is a link to the PCC website, and the information they have so far shared on the LRC proposed, closing date 31.7.19.

Thank you to all the parents and carers that have attended our ALN coffee mornings this academic year. There will be no more coffee mornings this term, but we shall return in September with enough tea and biscuits to sink a ship!

A huge thank you to West Wales Activity Centre in Dale, who this week hosted two groups of pupils from Milford Haven School. The groups spent two fantastic days out on the water, and we are extremely grateful for this fantastic opportunity.

It was our absolute pleasure to again welcome Year 5 pupils into MHS today from our family of schools. Young people took part in a wide range of sporting activities arranged by Mr Edwards, Mr Butland and the Year 10 BTEC Leadership and Teamwork groups. Da iawn to all involved!

This week we have held a series of Award Assemblies, in which we celebrated some of the very many pupil achievements from this year. It was a delight to see so many young people receive awards and recognition for all of the hard work that has gone into the immense progress that has been made by our pupils. Please see our Facebook page for some photos.

The Wave on Monday with Year 8 pupils was another successful event put on by Milford Haven Port Authority to highlight the dangers of ‘jumping’. The local Fire and Rescue teams were there with VR googles, the RNLI attended as well as the Police and other local agencies that waned to share vital information on how to enjoy the water safely. Whilst we live on a beautiful coastline and we want young people to take full advantage of our amazing location, we want pupils to stay safe and be able to risk assess some of the activities which take place near the water. As we near the end of term I hope that these important messages will help you all to have a happy and safe Summer.

IMPORTANT DATE FOR THE DIARY: Pupils of Milford Haven School will return in September on Wednesday 4.9.19, Monday the 2nd and Tuesday the 3rd will be INSET days for staff training and development.
