A huge thank you to all of our dedicated staff, wonderful pupils and supportive families who have all contributed to another positive week back at MHS. We have really enjoyed taking these steps back to normality, and it has been a joy to have some of our pupils back with us for catch up sessions.
Following a rigorous application process, we are delighted to announce our Prefect Team for 2020-21!
Our Prefect team are: Mijaan Ali, Tyler Rogers, Elanor Evans, Beth Chinn and Ellie Brown.
They will be led by our Senior Prefects of Head Girl Lucy Lewis, Head Boy Dafydd Picton, Deputy Head Girl Izzy-May Solomon and Deputy Head Boy Alex Robertson.
A huge congratulations is extended to them all, and we continue to be immensely proud of the achievements of our sixth form at MHS.
Year 6- exciting plans are under way here at MHS!
Your new tutors will be making phone calls throughout next week, introducing themselves to you and informing pupils of what tutor group they are in. Tutors will also be confirming details on what time and where to arrive on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd for your planned transition days.

Pembrokeshire County Council have recently confirmed that childcare provision for children of key worker families will come to an end on Friday, 24th July. The Authority has run childcare provision for key worker families since the start of lockdown, initially in schools and then in 21 childcare hubs across the county.
The provision returned to schools when schools re-opened on June 29th. However, from Saturday, July 25th if you have a school-aged child, you should arrange summer childcare via your normal childcare provider.
If you have a child who is under four years-old (pre-school) you may be eligible for the Coronavirus Childcare Assistance Scheme (CCAS). Funding is available until 31st August 2020 to support with the cost of registered childcare provision for vulnerable children and children of critical workers who must leave the home to carry out their work.
Under the CCAS a parent / guardian is eligible to receive Government-funded childcare if:
· They have a child or children, of pre-school age; and
· They are a critical worker – see eligibility here: https://gov.wales/coronavirus-critical-key-workers-test-eligibility)
Parents should only apply for childcare to cover their working hours; and if the child/children cannot be cared for by a spouse or other family members.
Evidence of eligibility of critical worker status will be required as part of the application process.
This can be a critical worker letter which includes the name and address of the applicant(s) or, if the letter does not include the name and address of the applicant, please supply a recent payslip.

A confirmation will then be sent to you to confirm your child/children has/have a place. It is very important that you do not turn up at the childcare settings if you have not received a confirmation email from us. The Council has put measures in place to open a limited number of our registered childcare settings to provide CCAS funding.

⭐️ DIAMOND HOUSE- Cole Bellenger for his hard work in science & Lily Walters who has had several nominations for good work and also completed the Junior Maths Challenge 2020.
⭐️ DRAGON HOUSE- Tamzin Cooper for outstanding PE work and positive contributions all throughout the period we have been off school.
⭐️ DEFENDER HOUSE- Abi-May Anthony for consistently completing high quality work in her subjects during lockdown.
⭐️ DARING HOUSE- Caitlyn Seabourne who is completing some amazing work at home. She has completed all set work in Health & Social Care and Hospitality & Catering on time and to an extremely high standard.

Pembrokeshire Pupil Development Grant Access Plus is a Pembrokeshire County Council Scheme to help parents in difficult circumstances with school uniforms.
From April 2019, Pembrokeshire County Council will offer a grant of up to £125 per statutory school age pupil for:
*school uniform including coats and shoes
*school sports kit including footwear
*uniform for enrichment activities, including but not limited to, scouts, guides, cadets, martial arts, sports, performing arts or dance Equipment e.g. school bags and stationery
*Specialist equipment where new curriculum activities begin such as design and technology
*Equipment for out of school hour’s trips such as outdoor learning e.g. waterproofs
This is not an exhaustive list, and there is some discretion about what could be funded but it must be something that will support the achievement of the child. Decisions on applications will be made by the Pupil Support Officer for your school. Examples of difficult circumstances may include:
*Families experiencing moving over to Universal Credit and experiencing significant delays in receiving benefit payments
*Loss of possessions due to an event beyond your control such as fire or flood.
*A child who has to move schools at short notice at the advice of the Local Authority.
